Celerity/Mykrolis Devices (Last time to buy from Brooks Instrument) Nov 2009

Brooks will continue to accept orders for legacy products until March 31, 2010. Final shipment of these products will be within 3 months of this last time buy date. The MFC product family contains Unit, Tylan, Mykrolis, and Celerity metal sealed and elastomeric devices.

Coastal Instruments will continue to support these devices indefinitely

We have built a large inventory of both spare parts and finished goods to support these products indefinitely. Coastal Instruments supports nearly all current and legacy design Mass Flow Controllers (MFCs), Mass Flow Meters (MFMs), Capacitance Manometers (CDGs), Pressure Controllers, and Rotameters.

BROOKS INSTRUMENTS ACQUIRES CELERITY FLOW AND PRESSURE INSTRUMENTS

Further flow and pressure instruments obsolescence can be expected

When competing companies merge, typically they end up with redundant product lines. In almost every case, certain product lines face obsolescence. In the case of Brooks Instrument and Celerity’s (Unit Instruments, Tylan, Millipore and Mykrolis) product lines, we anticipate many non-Brooks as well as some Brooks products may need to be eliminated to optimize the profitability of the new company.

Obsoleting Mass Flow Controllers (MFC’s), Mass Flow Meters (MFM’s), Pressure Controllers (PC’s) and Capacitance Manometers (CDG’s) can be devastating for both OEM’s and End-Users. Customers have invested millions in their operations in the development of systems and processes including these devices, which involves years of design, testing, qualification, training, system reconfiguration, process development, system warranty, spares and support over many years. The only thing worse than product obsolescence, is when adequate notice is not given.

THE SOLUTION

Coastal Instruments will continue to support these devices indefinitely

As an independent Flow & Pressure Instrument company, we have recognized the need to continue to provide support for the legacy and obsolete products. While MFC manufacturers merge and obsolete these devices, large equipment makers and end-users must deal with the nightmare of sourcing new or replacement devices and the continuing need to provide service for the installed base.

We recognize the crippling expenses involved in product obsolescence replacement products. This is a customers worst nightmare. That is where we come in.

We have built a large inventory of both spare parts and finished goods to support these products for years into the future. This means we will support these devices with the intention of assisting customers to avoid or at least delay the arduous task and expense of designing in a replacement device or even considering a complete product redesign. If you need to replace an obsolete MFC, or if you need MFC service, we offer both solutions.

Please read our information regarding Obsolete Mass Flow Controller Support.

Coastal Instruments supports nearly all current and legacy design Mass Flow Controllers (MFCs), Mass Flow Meters (MFMs), Capacitance Manometers (CDGs), Pressure Controllers, and Rotameters.

OBSOLETE MASS FLOW CONTROLLER SUPPORT

As an independent MFC service provider, Coastal Instruments recognizes the tremendous value of supporting legacy or obsolescent products. While MFC manufacturers obsolete these devices, large equipment makers and end-users must deal with the nightmare of sourcing new or replacement devices. This task includes expensive testing and rigorous evaluations, not to mention overwhelming fab expenses due to machine-down time, wafer scrap, and system recertification. The time and expense of replacement devices can be devastating. That is where we come in.

As technology and economics dictate design obsolescence, we anticipate and build inventory to support these products for years into the future. Currently we anticipate Celerity and HoribaStec to begin obsolescence of very popular devices that are still in current demand, so we have intentionally begun to increase our inventory to support these legacy products.

This means we will support these devices with the intention of assisting our customers to avoid or at least delay the arduous task and expense of designing in a replacement device or even considering a complete product redesign. If you need to replace an MFC with an exact model, or if you need MFC service, we offer both solutions. (more information)
